“Yes, you can do it, there’s nothing to it. Put on the song and I’ll get you through it”
Hello, I’m Rowen. Nice to meet you. If you’re looking for a quick summary of who I am and what I do … I’m a songwriter, poet, film actress and singer. I write and perform songs and pieces that make people laugh as well as want to quietly console themselves with a tub of ice-cream. Because writing about love and fighting the good fight of daily life entails both.
My most recent project is a book of Love Poems, called, “Love Poems for people who don’t like being in love” which runs the whole gamut from from feeling drawn to someone, to falling in love, enjoying amazing sex (or not), to having resulting yeast infections (I try to keep that upbeat and amusing though, of course…) to the sadness and difficulty of letting go of someone… It’s got a bit of everything in it. Part Anthony Minghella, part Tracey Ullman.
If you’d like to know more about my work, why I’m a fan of Vivienne Westwood, (and performed a song at her shop in support of her ‘Politicians R Criminals’ campaign in my self-customised ‘I heart NY’ t-shirt no less):
(and here’s the letter she wrote me in response) you can get these kinds of details and more in my fortnightly letters straight to your inbox by clicking here. You’ll get a copy of my song, ‘Is It Friday?’ as well, so if you like songs about the irritating minutiae of life with a good dose of humour and a catchy tune, it’s a no-brainer.
Or you can just dive in and listen to some of my music. Or have a quick watch of these videos:
You can find out more about my acting work here.
And if you want to get in touch with me, the choices of how to do so are all on this page.
Have a fabulous, rebellious, unpredictable and exciting day!
