January 29th – ‘Invisible’ – a poem

It’s my birthday and I’m off to the cinema tonight to see, “The Post”, starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. I’m actually going to the same cinema I ended up going to after a second date was provisionally agreed on, but never materialised. This poem is what came out of that evening sipping a glass of red wine before I went to see a film on my own, as my way of making it a ‘date night for myself’ #havingmorefunonmyownanyway :

If you’d like to get involved and make a donation to the charity MIND – a mental health support charity in England and Wales, I am collecting donations to send to them as part of this “Beat the January Blues” effort, (as well as donating £1 per print copy sold of my next book – ‘Love Poems for people who don’t like being in love II’ – coming later this year -).

I will let you know how much I’ve raised by the beginning of February, and I’ll send MIND the amount I’ve made so far.

If you’d like to also support my work, you can find some suitably lovely rewards for doing so on Patreon here.

That was incredibly powerful and I’m so grateful to have come across this! Thank you for sharing such a vulnerable moment with the world. We have ALL been there- stood up with our lipstick on, dressed up with nowhere to go. We have ALL been there- but there’s something you must know… you are anything but invisible. Here, you have been seen AND heard. Thank you for making yourself visible. 🙏🏻♥️

Thank you, Heather. I’m glad you could relate. (Well, glad and not glad at the same time, really!)
