As I’m currently in bed with period pain* and really can’t perform anything right now, I decided to find some fun footage from last summer when I performed a song every day in July. I was staying in a place in Lower Manhattan at the time and had no access to a piano and was really missing being able to accompany myself… so I experimented with using Garageband on my iPad instead. Well, it certainly wasn’t the most successful performance, because those “piano keys” onscreen are really just too small to play accurately, but it was worth trying this musical experiment and it was fun to give it a go!

If you’d like to get involved and make a donation to the charity MIND – a mental health support charity in England and Wales, I am collecting donations to send to them as part of this “Beat the January Blues” effort, (as well as donating £1 per print copy sold of my next book – ‘Love Poems for people who don’t like being in love II’ – coming later this year -).
I will let you know how much I’ve raised by the beginning of February, and I’ll send MIND the amount I’ve made so far.
If you’d like to also support my work, you can find some suitably lovely rewards for doing so on Patreon here.
*One of the guys I dated once told me that this is the sort of thing US women keep to themselves. Since then I’ve been more determined than ever to not lie or talk/write euphemistically about something that 50% of the population at some point in their lives has to go through on a regular basis. I think it’s time we all acted like adults about this stuff, don’t you agree?
